Deeds Brewery: Explore the Flavours of Australian-Made Beer

In 2003, engineering students Patrick Alé and David Milstein came up with the idea for Deeds Brewing while having drinks. And soon after graduating, they started their own drinks delivery business and ran it for 18 years specializing in importing beers and ciders. Then, in 2012, Pat and Dave made their first dream come true by starting their own beer brand (originally Quiet Deeds).

They bought the old car shop in Paran Place in 2015 and purchased their brewery equipment the next year. After going through a long process to get building permits, they didn’t get permission to start building the brewery until January 2018. And finally, Pat and Dave were then given the go-ahead in April 2020 to build the Taproom and Kitchen on-site.

Their goal is easy to understand: deeds brewery makes beer that they want to drink alongside a team of passionate beer lovers who make award-winning beers and put a lot of emphasis on quality, new ideas, and pushing the limits of beer flavour, and here are some of their very best as described by their brewers:

Deeds Peanut Butter Imperial Stout (ABV 10.0%)

The flavour of chocolate and peanut butter stacked together is incomparable to any other flavour combination. A touch of sweetness, a pinch of salt, and occasionally even a crunch. The arrival of winter brings with it the sensation that we have entered the season of pastry stouts, and the people at Deeds take it seriously. Because of course, what’s better than the chocolate and peanut butter duo? A pure classic now as an authentic beer flavour!

Deeds All Shaka No Wukkas Pacific Lager (ABV 4.4%)

This potent Imperial Stout spent a year maturing in bourbon barrels before being conditioned on pecans and vanilla pods. The result is a strong beer with deep chocolate undertones supported by vanilla, coconut, whisky, and oak flavours. What else might one search for within the confines of a single beer can for the night?

You’ve put in a lot of hours at work this week, and now you have a long drive ahead of you to get to the family barbeque. The sun is shining brilliantly, you’re feeling the heat taking over your shoulder and the air conditioner in the car isn’t working. You have arrived him, finally, worn out and overheated. While you struggle to keep your composure in spite of the inclement weather, you find yourself daydreaming about a tasty drink with orange and vanilla flavours… Then, as if by magic, a four-pack of Deeds Wallbanger materialises on the ice in front of you and it seems like you’re ready to seize the day all over again!

Deeds Blond Belgian Blond (ABV 6.6%)

The long-awaited arrival of this Deeds Brewing Limited Release of a fan-favourite in the taproom has finally arrived! Everything that makes us like this beer so much is offered in a traditional manner in The Deeds Belgian Blond. Fruity esters and a phenolic spiciness that’s not overpowering come together in this beer that’s built on a crisp Pilsner malt base. This blond has a medium body, and a finish that is rather dry, and it is quite easy to sip and keep drinking more and more of it. Ideally, this specialty should be enjoyed in the warm sunshine with a huge bowl of mussels.

Deeds Survivor Type Hazy TIPA (ABV 10.5%)

Are you a “survivor”? In other words, are you willing to do anything to get the job done? This beer’s job is to cram a lot of flavour into a small tin can. A little tin that you’ll want to open right away. With flaked and malted wheat and oat malt, this beer has a thick, creamy haze and an ABV of more than 10. It has a big dry hop, but the magicians at Deeds have found a way to give your taste buds yet another great, hazy experience.
